Building Dreams on the Silk Road: A New Era for Youth and Green Technology

For many middle school students, the development strategies of the "Belt and Road Initiative" and the Greater Bay Area often seem abstract and hard to grasp. How can the younger generation integrate into the overall national development? And how should we seize the opportunities of the times and shoulder our responsibilities?

The fog gradually lifts, and a bright light guides the way. These two questions have lingered in my mind for over two years. It was not until I participated in the "My Interfaces with Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) " competition that my confusion slowly dissipated. I am grateful to experts such as Mr. Bernard CHAN of "Belt and Road Pioneer," Professor Herman HU, Professor Terence CHONG, Professor Raymond CHAN, Dr. Wilson CHAN, Professor Simon HO, and Dr. MA Jun for their incisive interpretations. Their lectures not only ignited my aspirations but also deepened my understanding of the close connection between national development and individual destiny. This competition was like a key: it opened the door to my understanding of national strategies, optimized my academic plans, and expanded my international perspective.

Technological innovation drives economic rise. In the wave of technological innovation, China is leading the global economic rise. In cutting-edge fields such as the Internet and artificial intelligence, China's scientific research achievements have ranked among the world's best. The country excels at transforming technological innovation into practical productivity, and through industrial integration, makes technology truly the core driver of economic development. The "Belt and Road Initiative" acts as an "amplifier" for this driving force: it is both a bridge for Sino-foreign technological exchanges and sharing of achievements, and a springboard for young people to step onto the international stage. For example, young people can participate in cooperative projects such as AI medical care and cross-border drones in Southeast Asia, broadening their horizons through multilateral collaboration. When Chinese technology enters Southeast Asian markets, it not only enhances local scientific research capabilities but also deepens international friendships through technical exchanges, opening up new economic growth points.

Green transformation ensures a sustainable future. Green transformation is a crucial direction for technological development and an era-defining issue that young people must face under the framework of the "Belt and Road Initiative." In global competition, for China to achieve sustainable development, it needs not only strong technological innovation but also to consolidate the foundation of green development. Technology and ecology are essentially "symbiotic": technology provides solutions for environmental protection, such as photovoltaic power generation and smart water-saving technologies; in turn, the demand for ecological protection feeds back into technological innovation, driving the research and development of low-carbon materials and circular economy technologies. Therefore, only through the joint efforts of individuals practicing environmental protection concepts, enterprises adhering to low-carbon development, and the country promoting green infrastructure can technological progress and ecological protection mutually reinforce each other, achieving a win-win situation.

Youthful responsibility merges into the tide of the times. The growth trajectory of contemporary youth has always resonated with the pulse of national development. No matter which professional field one chooses, there is a place in the wave of green technology: science students can tackle low-carbon technical challenges, finance majors can facilitate green investment projects, and young people in the biological field can engage in research such as rainforest restoration in Southeast Asia and cross-border river governance — all these choices are indispensable parts of the "Belt and Road" construction.

Every effort of young people will converge into a mighty force pushing the times forward. May we set sail with dreams and navigate with passion, starting from understanding the profound connotation of the "Belt and Road Initiative," and write a chapter belonging to our generation in the journey of green technology!
